Child Safety Standards

ElleLost (developed by ElleMultiverse SRL) is committed to providing a safe environment for all users, with zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page describes the standards, controls and reporting channels we have in place to protect minors on our platform, in compliance with Google Play's Standards for Apps to Address Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, the EU Digital Services Act (DSA, Regulation 2022/2065), and Italian Codice della Privacy.

1. Zero-tolerance policy

ElleMultiverse SRL prohibits any content, conduct, or feature that facilitates, depicts, normalises, or trades in child sexual abuse material (CSAM), child grooming, sexual extortion of minors, or any other form of child sexual exploitation. Violations result in immediate account termination, content removal, and — where required by law — reporting to competent authorities (Italian Polizia Postale, US NCMEC CyberTipline, EU national authorities).

2. Age requirement

ElleLost is rated 12+ (Google Play age rating). Users under 14 years of age must use the app under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, in accordance with Italian law on minors' online consent. Accounts that we identify or that are reported to us as belonging to a child under 14 are deactivated immediately.

3. Prevention and detection of CSAE content

Multiple automated and human controls are layered on every content type:

• AI image moderation: every photo uploaded to a listing or profile is scanned by Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini Vision) before publication. Content classified as CSAM, suggestive content involving minors, nudity, or sexual content is blocked at upload and the uploader's account is flagged for admin review.
• AI text moderation: listing titles, descriptions and chat messages are screened by AI to detect grooming patterns, sexual solicitation of minors, requests for contact information from minors, and known CSAE keywords across the 10 languages we support.
• Admin moderation queue: flagged content is reviewed by a human moderator within 24 hours. Content that violates our Child Safety Standards is permanently removed and the responsible user account is permanently banned.
• Anti-PII (Personally Identifiable Information) filter: chat messages that contain phone numbers, email addresses or external social media handles are flagged with a warning, especially when sent to or from accounts identified as minors, as those are typical grooming vectors.
• Secret chats with auto-destruct have additional content-moderation controls on the server side: media sent in secret chats is still scanned by AI moderation even though the user-visible history is auto-deleted.

4. User reporting mechanism

Every listing, chat message, user profile and comment in ElleLost has a visible "Report" button ("Segnala" in Italian) which allows any user — registered or not — to flag CSAE-related content in one tap. Reports are routed to the moderation queue and reviewed within 24 hours. Reporters can also email us directly at legal@ellelost.app for urgent matters.

We respond to law enforcement requests within 72 hours and to all other child safety reports within 7 days. For emergencies involving imminent risk to a child, contact local authorities first (in Italy: 112; in the EU: 116 000 missing children hotline).

6. Compliance with applicable laws

ElleLost complies with:

• EU Digital Services Act (Reg. 2022/2065) — including notice-and-action mechanisms, transparency reporting, and the prohibition on profiling minors for advertising;
• EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Reg. 2016/679) — special protections for data of children under 14 years;
• Italian Codice della Privacy (D.lgs. 196/2003 as amended) — minimum age 14 for autonomous online consent;
• US 18 U.S.C. §2258A — mandatory NCMEC CyberTipline reporting of apparent child sexual abuse material;
• UK Online Safety Act 2023 — duty of care to protect children from harmful online content.

7. Reporting to authorities

When ElleLost detects or receives a credible report of CSAM, child grooming, sexual extortion of a minor, or any imminent danger to a child, we:

1. Preserve the content and associated user data;
2. Report to NCMEC CyberTipline (cybertipline.org) within 24 hours when the suspect or victim is reasonably believed to be in the US;
3. Report to Italian Polizia Postale (polizia di stato — sicurezza informatica) when the suspect or victim is in Italy;
4. Cooperate with all valid law-enforcement subpoenas and EU DSA information requests.

8. Transparency report

ElleMultiverse SRL publishes annual transparency reports on ellelost.app/transparency with aggregate statistics on:

• Number of CSAE-related reports received;
• Number of accounts banned for child-safety violations;
• Number of reports forwarded to law enforcement;
• Average response time to reports.

The first transparency report will be published on 31 December 2026, covering the period from the public launch of ElleLost.

9. Updates to these standards

We review these standards quarterly. Significant changes are announced in-app and on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
